It has been announced that the London premiere of the Tony nominated musical An American in Paris will open at the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End on 1 April 2017, following previews from 4 March 2017, where it is booking to 30 September 2017.
An American In Paris is inspired by the Oscar Winning film of the same name with timeless music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin.
Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war…
Joining the previously announced Robert Fairchild (as Jerry Mulligan) and Leanne Cope (as Lise Dassin) – who both originated the roles on Broadway – will be Haydn Oakley (Sunset Boulevard, The Book of Mormon) as Henri Baurel, Zoë Rainey (The Winter’s Tale, Wicked) as Milo Davenport, David Seadon-Young (Ghost) as Adam Hochberg, and Jane Asher (Alfie, Blithe Spirit) as Madame Baurel. Ashley Day will be the alternate Jerry Mulligan.
